David Buyck

Buyck Family Advisory Office

Head of Advisory

Description

David’s career in investment advisory and family office leadership is distinguished by landmark transactions and the creation of innovative platforms across Europe’s UHNW community. In 2013, he built the first real estate co-investment platform for a €1.2 billion AUM pension fund, managing both listed and direct assets. From 2014 to 2017, David established the internal advisory practice for a Single Family Office in Luxembourg, where he orchestrated the acquisition of two loan portfolios and led the treasury integration of an Italian bank into the family’s privately owned banking structure. As an investment executive at UBS, David completed the bank’s first aircraft financing in Luxembourg, managed its largest individual private client portfolio, and facilitated the onboarding of the L Catterton franchise to the UBS platform. He played a critical role in the Nordea acquisition, leading pre-acquisition due diligence, overseeing the technical integration of the wealth management book, and training more than 30 advisors. In recognition of his contributions, David received the UBS Group Franchise Award in 2018 and was nominated to represent the bank at the Davos Forum. Since 2023, he is overseeing strategies in real estate, private debt, private equity, impact ventures, and hedge funds at the Buyck Family Advisory Office. In this capacity, he launched the Solar Impulse Foundation co-investment platform in partnership with Bertrand Piccard, spearheaded the founding of SOFI—Single-family Office for Impact—in 2024, and led the €870 million take-private transaction of La Perla in 2025. Additionally, David serves as an external advisor and appointed mediator to the Luxembourg Supreme Court, offering guidance on complex financial and fiduciary matters. In addition to his pursuits and advisory role in the Buyck family, he remains deeply committed to contributing to his local community and beyond. He currently chairs the Solvay Business School and HEC Lausanne Alumni Luxembourg chapters, lectures in Fundamental Analytics, and partakes in pro-bono mentoring. Thanks to his keen interest in finance and economics, adherence to a strong family work ethic and dedication, this culminated in leading the family transaction and asset management function. He continuously strives to expand his knowledge, build relationships, and create a positive, collaborative environment to drive success.
